Background

Nexia Solutions Limited is BNFL's research arm. It was set up in 2005, as a spin off from BNFL's Research and Technology department, which operated for a few years as Nuclear Sciences and Technology Services. [1] (http://www.nuclearspin.org/index.php/Nexia_Solutions#endnote_nexiabiog)

  • Peter Bleasdale, managing director - former civil servant with the Ministry of Defence, responsible for the procurement and stockpiling of nuclear weapons. Bleasdale joined BNFL in 1990 and 'managed the company relationship with MoD' before being promoted to several other senior positions.
  • Andy Elsden, strategy director - has worked for BNFL for 25 years in a variety of engineering and management roles.
  • Ric Baldwin, commercial director - ex-head of BNFL Alfa, the body set up by BNFL to ensure the transition to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and a range of other senior BNFL roles.
  • Graham Fairhall, chief technology officer - another long-term BNFL employee, who has spent over 25 years working in nuclear research and development.
  • Jason Sharp, finance director - former finance director of transport firm First Manchester, part of First Group plc. He has also worked for other United Utilities, Rolls Royce and Ernst and Young.
  • Mandy Mayor, human resources director - also responsible for 'the development of external and internal strategies aimed at improving the standing and reputation of Nexia Solutions among customers, employees and other stakeholders'.
  • Mick McKeever, operations director - former magaging director of Jarvis plc.
