A Guide to Referencing

For those people inputting material, when you put in a reference please use the references and citations procedure set out below.

You generate a reference (ie a superscript number at the end of a quotation) using eg. #{{ref|guardianMacalister}}, and you label the corresponding citation (at the bottom of the page with the full reference) using {{note|guardianMacalister}}. Readers can see where a given citation is referenced in the article by clicking the up-arrow link next to it. Inserting the 'hash' character (#) at the beginning of each references at the bottom of the page will created a numbered list. As long as you use this system for all the references on the page and ensure that you order the references correctly, the numbers at the bottom will correspond with those in the text.
